St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Dear All,

Just a few details about Saturday:

Meeting point for the start of the parade is on Union Quay, group F, at 12.35;

  • Traffic restrictions will be in place from 11am. Please make sure you leave enough time to get to your meeting point. Any late arrivals joining groups in the parade, please note that you will not be able to cross the barrier line at Latitude Bar (corner of Anglesea Street and Copley Street ) and the stewards at that location will ask you to enter the parade assembly area from the bottom of Copley street.
  • Each section of the parade has been allocated a group letter along with a parade assembly point & time. Please find this information in the subject line of this email.
  • A parade marshal who will be wearing red high viz vest will meet you at the assigned location. The group letter detailed in the subject line of this email will be visible in the area.
  • We are all hoping for good weather, it’s obviously been unpredictable of late so wherever possible, please do come dressed appropriately. We will be doing our best to keep waiting time to a minimum prior to the start of the parade.
  • Toilets are available in the City Hall.
  • First Aid will be available at various points during the parade, if you need any assistance at all, please speak to your group leader who will in turn contact the parade marshal who will be in direct contact with the Event control room who will be able to assist you.
  • Please only bring what you can carry as there is no secure area to leave personal belongings during the parade.
  • The council have asked that those participating do not film or take photos during the parade. Press photographers will be taking photos, and the council is more than happy to share these following the event.
  • In the unlikely event of an incident occurring anywhere on the route, the parade marshal assigned to your group will be your link and he may request you to temporarily pause  or potentially all move to the left of the parade route in order that we let an emergency vehicle through. Please follow his/her direction as this will have come direct from Event Control.
  • All groups will start from and return to Union Quay when the parade is over.
  • Finally, just in relation to briefly stopping in front of the Lord Mayor’s Viewing Stand – please note that this is the second viewing stand you will come to – NOT the first. Your parade marshal will signal where to stop so please be guided by them in this regard, if you have a short performance piece, please note that you will be limited to 45 seconds maximum before the parade marshal will move you on. We have a lot of groups to get through so please help us by working with them.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
