Bag packing – cancelled

Dear All,

The bag packing in Dunnes Stores, Douglas Court, scheduled for this Thursday, Friday and Saturday is now cancelled as we do not have enough volunteers to cover all the slots.

Thanks so much to all of you who offered to help.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade Award

To all the skaters who took part in the parade,

You may have heard that CFSA won a prize for best sports group  🙂

You are all invited to the City Hall on Thursday at 5.30 for the award ceremony. I hope you can make it!

Bag packing – urgent!

Dear All,

As part of our fundraising efforts towards the organisation of the World Open and European Championship in July, CFSA was kindly offered a bag packing slot in Dunnes Stores in Douglas Court this Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Unfortunately there are still lots of empty spots, and if we cannot fill them we will have to cancel the fundraiser, which would be a lost opportunity to raise much needed cash for the World Open.

If you, your family or friends (over 14 only) have an hour or two to spare, would you kindly contact Mary on 087 2685124 today (we will have to make a decision this evening)?

We would be very grateful for your help.

Sabrina

P.S.: training as normal during the Easter holidays except for Easter Sunday 🙂

Club Competition on Saturday in Little Island

Dear All,

Just a quick check list for skaters competing on Saturday:

Please make sure that your skates are in order (check wheels, toepicks and laces); for skaters using the club’s skates, you can collect them on Saturday between 12.30 and 1.3o from the hall; alternatively write your name, model and size of the skates that you will need on the list at the hall and we will bring them to Little Island for you.

Don’t forget your dress, tights and hair accessories!

Please make sure that you arrive at the hall at least half an hour before your group’s warm-up time.  There will be some additional (optional) time to practice between 2 and 2.30 as well as the official warm-up for your group.

Lastly, look up, smile and enjoy your time on the floor!

As part of our fundraising efforts for the World Open and European Championship in July at the Mardyke Arena, we will have tea, coffee and refreshements for sale, so no need to bring your own 🙂

If you are not competing on this occasion, you are still very welcome to come and watch and to support our skaters. Many of them will be competing for the first time and they’ll be delighted to have a supportive audience.

Looking forward to seeing you all there,

Sabrina

St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Dear All,

Just a few details about Saturday:

Meeting point for the start of the parade is on Union Quay, group F, at 12.35;

  • Traffic restrictions will be in place from 11am. Please make sure you leave enough time to get to your meeting point. Any late arrivals joining groups in the parade, please note that you will not be able to cross the barrier line at Latitude Bar (corner of Anglesea Street and Copley Street ) and the stewards at that location will ask you to enter the parade assembly area from the bottom of Copley street.
  • Each section of the parade has been allocated a group letter along with a parade assembly point & time. Please find this information in the subject line of this email.
  • A parade marshal who will be wearing red high viz vest will meet you at the assigned location. The group letter detailed in the subject line of this email will be visible in the area.
  • We are all hoping for good weather, it’s obviously been unpredictable of late so wherever possible, please do come dressed appropriately. We will be doing our best to keep waiting time to a minimum prior to the start of the parade.
  • Toilets are available in the City Hall.
  • First Aid will be available at various points during the parade, if you need any assistance at all, please speak to your group leader who will in turn contact the parade marshal who will be in direct contact with the Event control room who will be able to assist you.
  • Please only bring what you can carry as there is no secure area to leave personal belongings during the parade.
  • The council have asked that those participating do not film or take photos during the parade. Press photographers will be taking photos, and the council is more than happy to share these following the event.
  • In the unlikely event of an incident occurring anywhere on the route, the parade marshal assigned to your group will be your link and he may request you to temporarily pause  or potentially all move to the left of the parade route in order that we let an emergency vehicle through. Please follow his/her direction as this will have come direct from Event Control.
  • All groups will start from and return to Union Quay when the parade is over.
  • Finally, just in relation to briefly stopping in front of the Lord Mayor’s Viewing Stand – please note that this is the second viewing stand you will come to – NOT the first. Your parade marshal will signal where to stop so please be guided by them in this regard, if you have a short performance piece, please note that you will be limited to 45 seconds maximum before the parade marshal will move you on. We have a lot of groups to get through so please help us by working with them.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
