Skating Test

Hi Everyone,
There will be a SKATING TEST on Saturday 5th November at 3.00 o’clock.
We look forward to seeing everyone there.
Please note that passing criteria are quite strict, so only register for one level if you are confident in all the skills required, and after discussion with your coach.
Skaters will receive a certificate for each level passed at the end of the day.
Fees are €5 for each level attempted.
Closing date for registration is Saturday 29th October: please ensure that you bring a labelled envelope with your name and levels to your coach before then.

Any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.

New Term

Welcome back to all our skaters!

The new term will start on 1st September and will go on until Christmas. Fees for this term are based on 16 weeks and are as follows:

  • 1 hour per week           € 160
  • 2 hours per week.        € 320
  • 3 hours per week         € 464
  • 4 hours per week         € 608

10% discount for 3rd and 4th family member.

Please also renew your annual membership and insurance this or next week (€25) and also ensure that you bring your wrist guards to each class.

Make sure that you dress up comfortably for training: no jeans, long skirts or dresses, no scarves, and long hair tied up.

Competitive Skating:

Competitive skating requires a significant commitment by both skaters and their families.

Any skater wishing to work towards competitions, needs to commit to at least 5 hours’ training per week (over two days or more, and including athletics).

You also have to commit to extra training and choreography practice, as well as to purchasing skating outfits and the club uniform.

It is also strongly recommended that competitive skaters purchase their own skates.

You need to be available to travel to competitions. When travelling, younger skaters have to be accompanied by a parent, unless you make a private arrangement with other parents or guardians to supervise your child.

When booking holidays, you will have to ensure that they do not clash with competitions and other events, and you need to inform your coach of any absence from training.

Please note that it may take months or years to reach a competitive level and to learn all the required elements for each category.

Fees for competitive skaters are paid monthly (at the beginning of each calendar month) for 12 months a year.

    • 5 hours per week            € 170 per month
    • 8 hours per week            € 250 per month
    • 10 hours per week          € 300 per month
    • 12 hours per week          € 350 per month

In addition, there will be further expenses for choreographies and for extra practice.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me by phone, text (086-8077616) or email (sabrinavassia@yahoo.com).

Summer Term

Hi Everyone,

The new term starts on 1st July and it lasts for eight weeks until the end of August. Please confirm your days and times with Anita ASAP.

If you miss classes while you are on holidays, you can attend for additional classes or practice either before or after. Please inform your coach and we will do our best to find a day and time that suits.

Summer Camps will also be offered for different classes. More information to follow.

Have a great summer!

Skate for Ukraine next Sunday 26th June at the Marina Market!

Hi Everyone,

We would be delighted if you, your family and friends could join us at the Marina Market next Sunday, with or without skates, for this event.

Deejay Stevie G will be presenting, and it will be a great opportunity to have a fun skate together while giving a contribution to the Irish Red Cross for much needed funds to help with the Ukrainian Crisis.

Many thanks to the Marina Market for making their venue available for this event.

Hope to see you all there!

Cork Open, New Term and Skates Order

Dear All,

Huge congratulations to all the skaters who took part in the Cork Open international competition this weekend, and big thanks to all the coaches, judges, volunteers, families and supporters who made it possible for it to happen. We hope that you all enjoyed it and we are really grateful to you all!

New Term:

The current term ends this week (last class on Saturday 16th April) and the new one starts on Tuesday 19th (Monday for competitive classes), until the 3rd July (11 weeks).

Please note that there will be no ballet on Monday 18th.

You can pay your fees on PayPal, or bring in cash or cheque in an envelope with your name.

If you wish to change your class time, increase your hours, etc., please contact Anita during the week to see if this is possible.

We would also kindly ask that anyone who is not returning to class for any reason, to let us know so that we can offer any vacant places to people on our waiting list.

Skates order:

Anyone who needs new boots or frames, please let me know this week. For boots, I need the model and size (the number under the sole of the boot). Please note that for Riedell boots, there is a long waiting time, while Risport boots usually come much faster.

Finally, we wish you all a very Happy Easter and a restful break!

From all the CFSA Team

CORK OPEN at Neptune Stadium on 9th-10th April

Dear All,

We are all looking forward to our Cork Open Inline Figure Skating Competition in Neptune Stadium this weekend.

Please ensure that you have checked the timetable for your category, and that you arrive at the stadium with enough time to get ready, warm up and put on your skates.

For skaters who have their own skates, please remember to check that wheels, toe pics and laces are in order beforehand.

Don’t forget your skating outfit and ensure that long hair is tied up.

Families and friends are welcome to watch part or all of the competition. There will be a small charge for spectators, in order to part-cover the expenses incurred by CFSA and ARSI in organising the event.

We thank all our volunteers in advance, for offering to help to ensure that everything runs smoothly!

For many of our skaters it will be the first experience of an international competition. We hope that you all enjoy it regardless of where you place. It will be a good opportunity to have a nice skating floor all to yourself!

If you have any questions, please email me, text me (086 8077616) or ask your coach.

Happy skating!

Sabrina and all CFSA and ARSI team

Skating Test on Saturday in Little Island SC

Hi Everyone,
We are looking forward to our skating tests this Saturday in Little Island Sports Complex.
The facility will be open from 12.30, with level 1 and 2 starting at 1.00pm sharp, and higher levels to follow.

The full timetable is on display at the hall.

All skaters please wear either a skating dress/skirt and top, black leggings with a top/jacket, or club uniform. No hoodies, loose jumpers or baggy pants. Long hair tied up.
As we have vulnerable people in our club, we would be very grateful if parents and friends watching from the gallery could wear a mask while inside the premises.
Certificates will be handed out in stages (level 1 and 2 at 3 o’clock).

Please note that criteria for passing any particular level are quite strict, so if you don’t pass a level it only means that you need more work, not that you are a bad skater. If you keep practising, you will be more than likely to pass it the next time!

Any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.

See you on Saturday!

Sabrina

Christmas Show video

Dear All,

Well done to all our skaters, who were fantastic on Saturday!

A big thank you to all our coaches and volunteers for all their work for the past few weeks and on the day… you are such a great team!

Recordings of the show will be available shortly on USB drive, and we hope that you will really enjoy watching all the performances of each of our skaters, from those who are just starting off to the most experienced ones. They are all beautiful!

USB sticks will be €25 each. To pre-order yours, please text me on 086 8077616, with the skater’s name. Bear with me if I don’t get back to you until the end of the day.

Best wishes!
